Act for someone
How a Legal Representative uses the portal on behalf of a member, switches between people, and switches back.
Before you start
- Your Legal Representation must be Active.
- You need sign-in codes turned on. See Security settings. If they are off, you see Turn on two-step sign-in before acting for someone.
Start acting for someone
Open Legal Representations
Open Legal Representations. On a phone, tap More at the bottom of the screen first.
Find the person
Under Represented Individuals, make sure Active is selected. Find the card for the person.
Tap Access
On their card, tap the small purple Access button next to the Active label.
Check the purple bar
A purple bar appears at the very top of the screen: You are currently acting on behalf of and the person's name.
Everything you do now is for that person, for example applying for a program or answering an information request.
Switch to another person
If you act for more than one person, tap Switch person in the purple bar, then tap the name of the person you want.
Switch back to your own account
Tap Switch back to my account in the purple bar. The bar goes away and you are back in your own account.
Always check the purple bar before you send anything, so you know whose account you are using.
If you can't act for someone
- If you see You can no longer act for this member, the representation is no longer active.
- If you see Your Legal Representation doesn't allow this. Contact PBCN if it should., that action is not part of your representation.
For help, contact your band office.
If your Legal Representative manages your account
If you see Your Legal Representative manages your account when you sign in, your Legal Representative uses the portal for you. Contact your band office if you have questions, or if you think this isn't right.
